Dr. Narendra Kini is a physician executive and healthcare innovator whose career spans clinical operations, hospital systems leadership, healthcare digitization, emergency response, and digital health innovation. He founded Upaya Health to apply clinical rigor and a physician-led perspective to plant-based topical formulation development.
From 2008 to 2019, Dr. Kini served as CEO of Miami Children's Hospital (now Nicklaus Children's Hospital), a 289-bed tertiary care academic health center. During his tenure, the organization expanded from one outpatient center to twenty-one outpatient centers, grew revenue from approximately $330 million to more than $1 billion, and deployed approximately $200 million in technology.
He served as Chief Medical Officer at Trinity Health, a 45-hospital system with approximately $5 billion in scale, where he oversaw clinical operations, medical IT, outcomes, quality, and physician leadership. He also served as Chief Medical Officer at CDR Maguire, helping set up and manage four field hospitals in partnership with public-sector and emergency response organizations.
Dr. Kini founded Kiniconsult, a consultancy focused on digital health innovation, advising and investing in companies focused on healthcare efficiency, safety, quality, and innovation. Earlier in his career, he served at GE Medical Systems Information Technologies and as ER attending physician and Vice President of Operations at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
